Fontstruct is made with Flash and lets you create fonts and save them as TryueType. Fonts are constructed from building blocks called "bricks" which are then arranged in a grid, letter for letter. There is nothing to set up, all you need to do is register for a free account. There is also a gallery of fonts created by other authors. Here is the link:
I decided to start doing typefaces just a few weeks ago and first I did my first font from scratch. After that I did another font for a fictional cereal box, but this time I wanted to do something looking like Arial but 'evil' and dark so what I did was to modify the font untill it looked the way I wanted it to look. Anyway, I used the font, everything was a success, but now I have a problem: I want to upload the new fonts to my website/portfolio - and to 1001fonts.com, but I want to protect this material from theft by copyrighting it, and I can copyright my own fonts, the ones I did from scratch, but the one that was made over Arial, that's a major problem.
Arial is property of Monotype, so I wrote to them first, but they never answered. I certainly changed the font a lot more than what they did with Helvetica, but the difference is that they did it starting from zero and I only moved, added and erased their font's nodes.
So, my question is: how can I protect this font before upload it? I mean, I don't even want the copyright on this font, just some credit on what I did, but what certainly I don't want is that some jerk steal it and then claim he did it. The font is still monotype's, but I modified it to the point it is no longer Arial, but another font. I don't want that this font remain in the shadows, I want to publish it.
Is there anything I can do?
