This is a hitlist of the most popular fonts. A font's popularity indicates the percentage of yesterday's downloads per unique visitor. So if a font has a popularity of say 5%, that would mean that 5% of everyone who visited 1001fonts.com yesterday downloaded that particular font.
The Most Popular Fonts is a dynamic ranking that pretty much reflects the best of the most recent font additions. Newer fonts get higher download rates, because they are listed first by default in the font categories. Since not all fonts are equally appealing to the mass, they are obviously not downloaded in equal amounts, so that the download rates well reflect a font's popularity. To make this ranking as representative as possible, the popularity is evaluated separately for PC and Mac font files in regards to the percentage of unique PC and Mac visitors.

All fonts on this site are subject to a public rating system, meaning that any visitor can rate any font by giving it a thumbs up or a thumbs down. A font's rating is displayed as the overall percentage of given thumbs up compared to the total amount of votes. Only one vote per person and font is counted once every six hours. To ensure the ratings are representative, the total amount of votes are displayed together with a rating and only ratings with at least ten votes are shown.
The Top Rated Fonts is the 'hall of fame' for fonts. There is not much movement in this ranking, since the more votes a font has received, the less a single vote is able to change the overall rating.
