1. Select a viewing method
You may select from three different methods of how to display the search results, either as a list, in a table or as full previews. By default the search results are displayed as a list with short descriptions of the fonts. This is very practical, because this is the only view where the search strings are highlighted in the results.
2. Select the type of fonts to search for
Here you have the option to limit your search to either Macintosh or Windows fonts and/or TrueType and ProstScript fonts only. By default all types of fonts are included in the search.
2. Select a category
You can search either all categories or within a specific category.
4. Enter a search string
Use the following methods to receive more specific results:
|
Using phrases in search string:
If you want to search for an exact phrase made up of several words, put the phrase in quotes.
Example: "Star Wars" or "Times New Roman"
Using wildcards in search string:
By using a question mark (?) or an asterisk (*) within a search query, you can search for multiple forms of the query.
Example 1: enter a?ial to search for fonts containing the words "abial", "agial", "arial" and so on.
Example 2: enter chris* to search for fonts containing the words "chris", "christmas", "christopher" and so on.
Including or excluding queries in search string:
To make sure that a query is always included in your search, place a plus sign (+) immediately before the query in your search. To make sure that a partial query is excluded from your search, place a minus sign (-) immediately before the partial query in your search.
Example: To search for Christmas related fonts including the word "Santa" but not "candy canes", try searching for +christmas +santa -"candy canes"
Using commands in search string:
Unless you are a member of 1001fonts.com and set up your own custom default settings, the search routine searches through all fonts and displays the results as textual listings by default. You can overide the default settings by adding the following commands directly to your search query:
/table to display the search results in a table
/full to display the search results with full details and previews
/list to display the search results as textual listings (default)
/ttf to search for TrueType fonts only
/ps to search for PostScript fonts only
/win to search for Windows fonts only
/mac to search for Macintosh fonts only
/all to search all fonts (default)
Here is an example:
The query /win /ttf /full feet will search for Windows TrueType fonts containing the word "feet" and displaying the results in full mode.
