kamangir Font Family

KamanGir (کمانگیر, Archer) represents the inaugural calligraphic font family developed according to the proposed perso-arabic writing system.

The five font styles within this font family are all disconnected, a departure from the traditional, conjoint Arabic font styles. Furthermore, the shapes of the capital (isolated) letters have been modified to achieve a more uniform and consistent visual aesthetic.

The kamangir LP (Less Point) denotes the dot-reduced version, wherein glyphs containing two or more dots are substituted with new dotless shapes. It is important to note that, with the exception of the kamangir regular style, all other styles utilize the reduced dots alphabet.

The kamangir MC (Mixed Case) mimics Latin fonts, allowing typists to select between lowercase (Initial) and uppercase (Isolated) letters using a software Caps Lock key. This software Caps Lock feature can be activated or deactivated by hitting the Tatweel letter. more…

The last two styles are Small Caps (kamangir SC) and All Caps (kamangir AC) versions of this font family.

The Perso-Arabic component of this font family is available for commercial use, while the Latin component closely resembles the Eid Mubarak font with only minor alterations. Consequently, it is essential to obtain the appropriate permissions prior to utilization.
